TIRA WAKAYAMA

HOUSE CHURCH DIRECTOR

Enneagram: 2w1 | APEST: Evangelist/Shepherd | Spouse: Yoichi Wakayama | Kids: Nixon, Scarlett, Pearl, Ezekiel

Background: I am a native San Diegan, born and raised in La Mesa-Spring Valley. I had the best college experience at Biola University, where they prepared me to live my life for the Lord. When I graduated, Biola sent me as a missionary to Tianjin, China. God granted me favor and I was hired to teach English to Government Officials’ children. It was an incredible experience that changed my life! When I returned to the US, I received my Masters in Teaching at Chapman University and began teaching in the public schools. Not long after, I was serving on a Dance Ministry at my Church, and I met my wonderful husband Yoichi. We married and joined Grace Church (at the time, Scott Memorial Community Church) in 2004. God has blessed us with 4 kids- and it is a joy to raise my family, and host a House Church, in the same neighborhood I grew up in!

Current Role: It is my joy and passion to be House Church Director at Grace!I love connecting people to God and to one another. When I see people trying to do this life on their own, my heart jumps and I get excited to invite them in to our Grace Family. The best way to find your spiritual family is by joining a House Church. I truly believe God intended His Church to be a family; one that loves each other deeply, and tells/shows His great love to others. I believe House Churches and Huddles help us to grow into who God made us to be, and helps us to reach the world around us.

Hobbies: baking, hosting parties and get-togethers, cheering my kids on in their sports and activities, walking at the beach

Fun Fact: I love boba and donuts! Not together. ;) If you’d like to hear more about our church, be prayed for, or find friendship at Grace- contact me and I’ll treat you to boba! Or donuts!
