IMPORTANT: In order to provide a secure environment for the children & students entrusted to our care, all children, middle and high school leaders are required to read and be familiar with the following ethics policy and safeguards for children and leaders. Your signature on this application indicates your understanding of and agreement to abide by these policies. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a Grace Church San Diego staff person. Grace Church San Diego has adopted an ethical misconduct policy for all leaders in the church, including team members in Life Development Ministries. We believe this is good news for our church and for the children to whom we minister. As models of Christ's love to the children, we must take seriously Paul's admonition to “always conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.” (Philippians 1:27). These lifestyle choices include no drinking to excess, no underage drinking, no living with one’s significant other before marriage, no homosexual relationships, and no sexual relationships outside of marriage. The content on internet web pages, such as Facebook & Instagram, are viewable to the public and can easily be seen by children. It is of utmost importance that you use these sites in a manner that will not cause harm or damage to one’s reputation as a Christ-follower by those who view it, specifically students. Our prayer is that we will live in a way that is “above reproach” so that we can be set free to engage in ministry to kids and students in North Park and the greater San Diego area.
Creating disciples through active engagement and leadership.
What We Believe About God God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He exists in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1,26,27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14 About Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-15; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13 About the Holy Spirit, The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. At the very moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit gives us spiritual gifts. As Christians, we should seek to live under His daily influence. 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16; Ephesians 1:13;Galatians 5:25 About the Bible, The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit and is therefore completely without error in the original autographs. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 12:6; 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5 About Man Man was created in the image of God. However, man sinned and has fallen to a state where only God can redeem him. Human life is sacred to our creator and should be respected by all. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; 59; Romans 3:23 About Salvation Salvation is God’s free gift to man and man need only believe in Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. The gospel that Christ died for our sins, He was buried and He was raised from the dead must be received as a gift and be seen as the only means of salvation. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by believing in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12; 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1; 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 About Church, We believe the church is the worldwide body of Christ. It is comprised of all believers who have been united through the sacrifice of Jesus. God has also called these believers to be part of a local church family. Matthew 16:18; Hebrews 12:22-24 About Eternity People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence. John 3:16; 12:25; 14:2-3; 17:3; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15 STATEMENT OF FAITH We hold our mission statement to be non-negotiable. For this reason, all of our leaders must understand and agree with the following statements of faith. Please read carefully: We believe in the sovereignty of God, the authority of the scripture, justification by grace through faith and the priesthood of all believers. God is the supreme authority throughout the universe. Our knowledge of God and God's purpose for humanity comes from the Bible, particularly what is revealed through the life of Jesus Christ. Our salvation (justification) comes only through belief in and a relationship with Jesus. It is God's generous gift to us and not the result of our own works. It is everyone's job – paid ministers and volunteer ministers alike - to share this Good News of Jesus Christ with the whole world. We ascribe to the following five tenets of the Christian faith: 1. The Bible is the Word of God and therefore has authority in our lives. 2. God is a Holy Divine Being, made up of three separate persons – The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit (The Trinity). 3. Jesus Christ was both God and Human. 4. Out of His infinite grace and love for us, Jesus died on the cross to save us from sin in order that we might be reconciled to God and have a personal relationship with Him. 5.If we decide we want a relationship with God, we are assured of eternal salvation in a relationship with Him.
