RYAN SKAGGS
NON-STAFF ELDER
My hometown is Bakersfield, CA. I grew up attending church with my grandparents, aunts and uncles. My grandfather was a bi-vocational pastor and a significant influence on my spiritual walk. His faith impacted our family and strengthened my personal faith.
My faith was solidified in 1998 during my senior year of high school when I committed my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I became a member and served the New Life Church of Bakersfield for several years in their youth ministry. I was part of a second-site plant for 4 years as we used a local high school auditorium to reach the neighborhood. I mentored, lead bible studies, and taught students ranging from 6 to 12 grade. After serving in the youth ministry for many years I felt called to attend Summit Bible College to further my walk with Christ.
My walk with Christ continues to evolve and develop over time. My heart is for the Church to be a safe place where non-believers can come to know Christ, where Christ's followers can grow in the Word, demonstrate the values of Christ, and focus on the treasure that our Lord and Savior would be proud of. It's my prayer that our church would be a group of people who show patience, grace, mercy, and respect to the world so that we may provide space for people to know Christ and make a decision to follow Christ.
