We study the 252 Basics curriculum, based on the Bible verse Luke 2:52 Open in Logos Bible Software (if available) NIrV that says, Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. We want every kid to know and understand these three things: I need to make the wise choice (wisdom); I can trust God no matter what (faith); and I should treat others the way I want to be treated (friendship). All our lessons focus on at least one of the three basic concept areas from this verse (wisdom, faith, and friendship) through 36 different life applications, in addition to traditional concept areas (like God, Jesus, the Bible, the church, family, community, and self).
We have two areas for kids according to their grade level, fully equipped for a fun experience. Our main room has an air hockey table, Xbox with Kinect games, a tree house and tire swing, a coloring area, and a bounce house! Upstairs the fun does’st end with a wall-ball room and cool hangout spot for 3rd through 5th graders complete with an Xbox with Kinect, craft/drawing tables, couches and chalkboard tables.
Our Fun Factor may be high but the emphasis on learning valuable biblical truths is huge and will not be missed. Each week the kids will have a Large group time with high energy, media driven worship, an exciting DVD Bible lesson, and prayer. After, they will split into smaller groups by age for fun and meaningful activities geared toward driving home the weeks lesson, monthly virtue and monthly bible memory verse.
There is a discussion time after each activity allowing for deeper questions and thoughtful conversations with small group leaders.
The kids also get hang out time to meet new kids, connect with each other and build friendships. Kids are encouraged to talk with their parents about the lesson and open the bible to dig a little deeper into what the Lord is teaching them.
Handouts are provided at the end of each service for parents and kids to help them stay connected to the lesson throughout the week.
