Hi Grace Families!

This week, we have a special lesson made just for you, our younger kids of Grace! Let’s see what Emily, Guy, and Mr. Music have been up to!

Let’s watch today’s lesson video!

Activity

Say: When there’s a problem, give God what you have. He can take what you give Him to take care of the problem.

You’ll need: A snack that comes in small pieces (cereal, grapes, crackers, etc.)
Read The Big Picnic together on the Bible App for Kids, or read John 6:1-12 in the Bible.
Give your child one small piece of food. (for example, one grape)

Talk about the following questions:
1) Will this little snack fill up our hungry tummies?
2) What did the boy do with his little lunch when everyone was hungry?
3) What happened when the boy gave his little lunch to Jesus?
4) Ask your child to give their little snack back, and give them a big snack in return. (For example, a handful of grapes)

Practice answering today’s question and saying the Bible verse together.

Finally, pray together about a problem you have. For example,

Dear God, please help the virus go away. Amen.

Say: When we believe in and follow Jesus, we become part of God’s Church! Part of being the Church is teaching others how to follow Jesus. In the Bible, Jesus calls it “fishing for people.” Let’s play a game about that!

Let’s go fishing! Search our house for anything relating to fish! A toy, a book, food, anything! Come back with a list of things you found after 5 minutes. Let’s see if you can find anything fishy…

Review Questions:
1) What does it mean to fish for people? Tell others about Jesus and show them how to follow Him.
2) What is the Church? All the people who follow Jesus
3) How do you think people can tell that you follow Jesus? Answers will vary.
4) In the Bible story, Jesus taught His first disciples to fish for people. How can you learn to fish for people today? Ask others to help you, read what Jesus did in the Bible, pray, learn at church, etc.
5) What do you think happens when you tell people about Jesus, but you don’t live God’s way? Answers will vary.
6) What might keep you from trying to fish for people? Answers will vary.
7) What’s your favorite part of following Jesus? Answers will vary.
8) Who might like to follow Jesus if you shared your favorite part of following Jesus with them? Answers will vary.

Hey Grace Families!

This month we are going to start a new series called, ‘Who’s the Church?

The Church isn’t a building. The Church is people who follow Jesus — the Bible calls us the body of Christ. As part of God’s Church, God calls everyone our neighbors, tells us to love them as we love ourselves, and to show them how to follow Jesus. We have to love God with everything in us and love others the way we love ourselves to show everyone what God’s Church is all about!

Worship Songs:

Jesus is Alive Right Now:

This Little Light:

Activity:
You’ll Need:
Body of Christ Activity Supplement
Also….Butcher Paper and markers (printer paper will work ok too)

How To:
Say: When we choose to follow Jesus, we’re part of the body of Christ—God’s Church. We have something special to do to show the world God’s love, like each body part has something special to do to keep the body healthy.
– Have your child lay on the butcher paper while you trace their outline. If you do not have butcher paper, you can trace a small doll on printer paper.
– Label the picture, “Body of Christ—The Church.”
– Kids draw parts of the body and label them with its function listed on the supplement. Help younger kids with labeling as needed.

Review Questions:
1) What is the body of Christ? Every single person who follows Jesus
2) What is another name for the body of Christ? God’s Church
3) Who is a part of God’s Church? Everyone who follows Jesus
4) In the Bible story, what did people who followed Jesus do to help each other out and keep the church healthy? Sold their property, shared what they had, met together, prayed, etc.
5) What do you think it would be like if everyone in God’s Church did the same job? Answers will vary.
6) What do you think it would be like if everyone in God’s Church decided not to do their special job? Answers will vary.
7) What can you do this week to help out at church? Obey my leaders, be a good friend, clean a mess, etc.
8) What can you do to find out what you’re really good at doing for God’s Church? Try different jobs, ask people what I’m good at, pray about it, etc.

Hey Grace Families!

It is important to obey the leaders that God gives us. Let’s watch Edison learn why we obey our leaders.

Worship Songs:

Your Love:

Activity:
Say: Let’s see how well you can obey your parents!
Line kids up about 10 feet away from you.
Each kid takes turns asking you, “Leader may I …” followed by a certain action to get closer to you. For example, “Leader, may I take two steps forward?”
It’s your choice as to whether you want to say, “Yes, you may,” or “No, you may not.”
If you say, “No, you may not,” offer an alternative action so the kid can still move forward. Use the activity supplement for fun ideas: https://open.life.church/items/181092-leader-may-i-pdf
The kid who asked can choose to obey you and move forward, or they have to return to the start.
The game is over when everyone reaches you.

3. What are some bad consequences when you disobey? Lose trust, lose privileges, get in trouble, get hurt, make it harder for leaders to care for you, etc.
4. If you’ve already disobeyed a lot, what do you think you can do to get back on the right track? Ask forgiveness from leaders, try again, ask God to help you obey, ask a trusted leader to help you, etc.
5. What reasons do you think trusted leaders have for giving you rules? Answers will vary.
Name some trusted leaders you can obey this week. Answers will vary.
6. When you don’t feel like obeying, what will help you obey, anyway? Pray, remember the Bible verse, think of good things that happen when you obey, etc.
